Hello, I would like to know if it is necessary to have a license to use Xenserver 7.2?

Hi Juan,

Although a license is not required for the free edition, if you’re looking to access the latest features in v7.2, including Windows Continuum for virtual desktops, scheduled snapshots, and extended support for virtual graphics, as well as the features introduced in v7.1 such as Hypervisor Introspection (HVI), PVS Accelerator, automated updates, live-patching, Nutanix HCI support and SMB for virtual disk storage, an Enterprise edition license is required.

Sincerely,
Andy

Hi,

Cool a new version! Congrats for the work.

Just a question? Is every new feature brought from 7+ going to need an Enterprise license, because it almost looks like it is.
I understand for some features but come on, adding new storage support like SMB for virtual storage, needing an Enterprise license ?

Isn't that going to kill the "open-source community" aspect of XenServer. Or is it already dead ? :'(

Hi Sebastien,

While you are correct that not every new feature requires an Enterprise edition license, the majority do. Please refer to the XenServer 7.2 Feature Matrix for additional information: https://www.citrix.com/content/dam/citrix/en_us/documents/product-overview/citrix-xenserver-feature-matrix.pdf

Thank you,
Andy
